Walt Disney World has over 50 attractions with height requirements across four parks, plus dozens more with no minimum. Most guides tell you everything is worth doing. This one tells you which rides are genuinely exceptional, which ones are good, and which ones don't deserve the 45 minutes you'd spend waiting.

Tier 1 — The best rides in Walt Disney World

1. Avatar Flight of Passage (Animal Kingdom, 44 inches) — The best ride at Walt Disney World. A 3D flying simulator that puts guests on the back of a banshee soaring over Pandora. Single Pass only. Get there at rope drop or buy your return window well in advance.

2. Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance (Hollywood Studios, 40 inches) — The most technically ambitious attraction Disney has ever built. A 20-minute experience that moves through multiple rooms, multiple ride vehicles, and a genuine story. Single Pass only.

3. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind (EPCOT, 42 inches) — A reverse-launch coaster that rotates the ride vehicle to face the action. Every ride can feature a different song from a curated playlist. Single Pass only.

4. TRON Lightcycle / Run (Magic Kingdom, 48 inches) — The fastest coaster at Walt Disney World. Single Pass only.

5. Haunted Mansion (Magic Kingdom, no height requirement) — Fifty years of artistry compressed into a 10-minute dark ride. 999 haunted residents, seamless storytelling, and technical effects that still hold up.

Tier 2 — Exceptional rides worth protecting

6. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train (Magic Kingdom, 38 inches) — Swinging mine cars through the diamond mine from Snow White. Single Pass. Rope drop or advance booking is essential.

7. Slinky Dog Dash (Hollywood Studios, 38 inches) — An open-air coaster through Toy Story Land, accessible at 38 inches to a wider range of younger riders.

8. Remy's Ratatouille Adventure (EPCOT, no height requirement) — A trackless dark ride from the perspective of a tiny mouse navigating Gusteau's kitchen.

9. Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets (Hollywood Studios, 48 inches) — A launch coaster with three inversions. The 2026 Muppets retheme adds genuine charm.

Tier 3 — Strong rides worth doing

10. Expedition Everest (Animal Kingdom, 44 inches) — Disney's best traditionally-themed roller coaster. A single-rider line cuts wait times significantly.

11. Space Mountain (Magic Kingdom, 44 inches) — An indoor coaster that has run since 1975 and remains enduring.

12. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (Magic Kingdom, 38 inches) — Reopened May 2026 with reduced height requirement of 38 inches, down from 40.

13. Tiana's Bayou Adventure (Magic Kingdom, 40 inches) — One of Magic Kingdom's most visually vibrant recent additions.

14. Soarin' (EPCOT, 40 inches) — A hang-gliding simulator over world landmarks.

15. Na'vi River Journey (Animal Kingdom, no height requirement) — A gentle boat ride through Pandora's bioluminescent rainforest.

Rides you can skip

Mission: SPACE Orange (EPCOT, 44 inches) — The full centrifuge experience is intense. The Green Mission delivers a similar experience at a fraction of the intensity.

Tomorrowland Speedway (Magic Kingdom) — Slow-moving cars on a guided track. Worth a ride with very young children; a waste of time otherwise.
