A Disney World water park day is worth adding to your trip if you're visiting during summer, you have children who love water slides, and you need a lower-intensity day between busy park days. Both Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach are genuinely excellent water parks — well-themed, well-run, and meaningfully better than most comparable facilities outside the Disney system.
The 2026 complimentary water park day for resort hotel guests
Starting May 26 and running through September 8, 2026, all registered overnight guests listed on a Walt Disney World Resort hotel reservation receive complimentary water park admission on their check-in day. This perk applies to all Walt Disney World Resort hotels for check-in dates May 26 through September 8, 2026.
Are water park tickets included with regular Disney World tickets?
No. Water park admission requires either a separate daily ticket (approximately $68 to $75 per adult) or the Park Hopper Plus add-on. Blizzard Beach typically closes annually from approximately late January through late spring for refurbishment. Always verify current operating status before your visit.
Typhoon Lagoon vs. Blizzard Beach
Typhoon Lagoon is generally considered the stronger of the two parks. The wave pool is one of the largest at any theme park water facility in Florida, with surf waves up to 6 feet. Key attractions: Crush 'n' Gusher, Miss Adventure Falls, Humunga Kowabunga, and Castaway Creek lazy river.
Blizzard Beach is themed as a ski resort that experienced an unexpected Florida heatwave. Key attractions: Summit Plummet (120 feet tall, speeds around 60 mph), Teamboat Springs, and Cross Country Creek. For most families: wave pool quality goes to Typhoon Lagoon. Most extreme slide goes to Blizzard Beach.
H2O Glow After Hours at Typhoon Lagoon
H2O Glow After Hours is a separately ticketed evening event at Typhoon Lagoon running select nights from June 2 through September 5, 2026, from 8 PM to 11 PM. Tickets run $85 to $89 per person. Features LED lighting, lower attendance, exclusive food, and access to select park attractions. Annual Passholders and DVC Members save 20%.
Practical tips
Arrive at opening. Best slides have shortest waits in the first 60 to 90 minutes.
Rent a locker. Worth the cost for your phone, sunscreen, and valuables.
Sunscreen constantly. Apply before you arrive and reapply every time you exit a water attraction.
Plan for a full day. A serious water park visit takes most of a full day.
